The use of cookies and other data in user devices
LMC products use local browser and similar storage in both personal computers and mobile phones. The devices then use this storage to display websites or operate mobile apps. Various types of data are stored here, but most commonly in the form of small blocks of data known as “cookies”. For the sake of simplicity, in this text we will use the word “cookies” to refer to all data stored on a user device.
Why do we use cookies?
- They are essential to make our services work,
- They improve service performance,
- They enable our products to offer advanced functions,
- They enable products tailored precisely to you,
- Our marketing uses targeted advertising.
Some cookies work in a combined manner, meaning they fulfil multiple purposes.
What types of cookies do we use?
First-party cookies, so-called LMC cookies
To set LMC cookies you need to visit the applicable LMC service (e.g. Jobs.cz, Prace.cz, Atmoskop.cz or Seduo.cz). LMC cookies are set in order to improve our services, and third parties have no access to them.
Third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are set in such are way that third parties can access them, most commonly for marketing, research and statistical purposes. Third-party cookies are also set after you visit our products. Some Internet browsers no longer support these cookies, for example Safari and Firefox.
Temporary cookies
These are usually cookies needed for a service to operate. Without these cookies, our services, e.g. Jobs.cz, Prace.cz and Atmoskop.cz, would not work properly. It is impossible to log in without these cookies, for example. The professional name for such cookies is session cookies. They are stored temporarily, and deleted as soon as you close your browser.
Persistent cookies
These cookies remain stored on user devices for a longer time, and have specific validity periods—in our case usually 365 days. They are set at various times during a visit to a website, usually on the first visit.
How can I restrict or delete cookies?
At the first visit, LMC products display a so-called cookie banner. This is a dialogue between the website and the user, in which we ask the user to consent to the use of cookies.
If the user decides to use the website without granting this consent, only cookies essential for the given website/product/service to work, and which therefore cannot be turned off, will be used. They are usually set in reaction to something you do, such as making a request regarding security settings, logging in, filling in a form, etc.
If you give your consent, we will use cookies for the following purposes:
- Analytical purpose
- Functional purpose
- Marketing purpose
- Content-personalisation purpose
Analytical purpose
These cookies improve the functioning of the website. They allow us to recognise and determine the number of visitors and monitor how they use our website. With the help of these tools, we can analyse and regularly improve the functionality of our website. We can use the resulting statistics to improve the user experience and increase the value of the service provided.
Functional purpose
The website performs better and is more personalised thanks to these cookies. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we use on the website.
Marketing purpose
Cookies are used for acquisition purposes, to measure the effectiveness of advertising, and for the targeted display of our product and services offers. They use external-company tools.
Content-personalisation purpose
Some of our sites/products/services work better when we can tailor their content to the user’s personal profile. We most often recommend job offers that are close in content to offers to which you have already responded or that could interest you. This recommendation is of significant value for many users of job search services like Jobs.cz, Prace.cz, Práce za rohem, Atmoskop and Techloop. In the case of other services, like Seduo, we recommend online courses. By refusing content personalisation, a user of our products significantly reduces their chances of getting the most value out of a provided service.
In addition to consenting to the use of cookies, you can restrict the use of cookies through settings in your Internet browser. Some browsers today are equipped with various “filters” to block tracking services or advertising. These filters do their work irrespective of whether a user has consented to the use of cookies. In some cases this can result in some functions of our products or services being blocked.
If you set your browser to block all cookies, this will prevent the website/product/service from working properly. As we mentioned above, some cookies are essential for the website to operate.
If you want to be sure LMC services will work properly, we recommend keeping or restoring your browser’s default settings.
Which partners do we use to set cookies?
We primarily use Google tools to measure visitor numbers, namely Google Analytics and Google Firebase. In some cases we perform so-called user tests, offering selected users new functions. For this purpose we use the Google Optimize tool. Most of the codes for these tools and for tools of other partners are inserted using the Google Tag Manager tool.
We use the YouTube service to play inserted videos on the Jobs.cz, career sites, Atmoskop.cz etc. websites. The actual playback takes place outside LMC products, and YouTube itself evaluates, measures and analyses your playback.
Google may retain the collected data for its own needs in accordance with the Privacy Policy available at http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy
We use Facebook to measure visitor numbers, for targeted advertising on its social networks and, in the case of Seduo.cz, to simplify logging in to the product.
Hotjar
We use tools from Hotjar to get answers to the question “How do you use our products?”, and also to measure satisfaction with our products, to create so-called anonymous heat maps, and for the anonymous monitoring of the website.
Intercom
We use tools from Intercom to improve user interaction. Some of our sites feature an interactive Chat window, through which we collect your questions and answer them. Intercom also makes our products more convenient to use for new users through the provision of so-called guidelines. These guidelines are offered in products for corporate clients.
Inline manual
We use this tool to notify corporate client users of new functions.
Sentry
This is a technical tool for reporting errors if a service uses Javascript.
Leady.cz
We use this tool to identify business visitors.
Targeted marketing
We use the following third-party services in our products for acquisition purposes and to measure the effectiveness of displayed adverts - Google Adwords, Facebook, Sklik, Adform, Affilbox and Xandr.
Information and the possibility to opt out of some advertising providers is provided at https://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/. You can turn off individual companies here: https://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices.
Company career sites
LMC provides corporate clients with the career sites service. You can recognise company career sites by their specific URL addresses, e.g. lmc.jobs.cz and vodafone.jobs.cz. When career sites are displayed, there may be a situation when the client requires the use of custom website traffic measurement, or the insertion of another external tool, such as a custom solution for interacting with users (chat), or polling like with GEMIUS in the case of the ceskatelevize.jobs.cz career site. For this reason, additional dialogues to obtain cookie use consent are always displayed on company career sites.
Mobile apps
We consider mobile apps to be apps downloaded to a mobile device from Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Huawei AppGallery etc.
Mobile apps do not work inside an Internet browser but rather use the operating system, whether this be Android or iOS/iPadOS.
These apps request consent to use local storage in different ways. This might be in the form of an interactive dialogue when the app is launched, when a profile is edited, or in the app settings.
You can read more about privacy protection in our Privacy Policy.
