What does LMC do, exactly?
We provide the fastest route to personal development opportunities and help people find a job they'll love.
Back then, there was only one single computer at LMC, hosting the Jobs.cz server. So, when you had to send an e-mail, you had to make sure you didn't knock Jobs.cz out! 😊 In those days, our salespeople used to sell Jobs.cz advertising space to companies who didn’t even have computers – it was like selling CDs in the era of cassette players. It simply revolutionized the way people looked for work.
In 2012, we were bought by Alma Media, a Finnish media group, and even with new ownership, we still continue our journey, still growing, and expanding into other European countries. Just as the ways people look for jobs and companies search for employees are changing and developing, so are we. We continue to push and strive for innovation, analyzing market data and developing apps that make life easier for both candidates and HR. But on the inside, we haven't changed – we still value humanity, freedom, and happiness.
Sale of LMC to the Finnish group Alma media, Milan Jasný became our boss2012
Alma Media is a Finnish media group, originally in print media, which today operates in 9 other countries besides Finland. The company invested in LMC mainly to expand its investments beyond this sector. Milan Jasný, who joined the LMC in 1998 as the second employee, took over the management of LMC in this crucial year.

How do we help others?
Good advertising deals for non-profits
Non-profit organizations can use a yearly advertising package on Jobs.cz, Prace.cz and the Práce za rohem app for a symbolic price of just 33 CZK. This way, we can help them reach and find new employees without putting further strain on their already tight budgets. Last year, 570 non-profits used this offer to advertise 6,398 full-time jobs and many more temporary and part-time positions. Non-profits can now also benefit from special offers on Seduo.cz, advanced editions of Teamio, and our new services Atmoskop.cz and Arnold.
We've been giving our employees, clients and partners unconventional Christmas presents for seven years now. These are vouchers for 250 CZK that can be used to support one of five non-profits of our choosing. Each voucher recipient can read about their missions and activities, and then choose which to give the voucher to. Last year we distributed a total 407,250 CZK to the five non-profits, supporting service dog training, amongst other worthy causes.
Jobs for the deaf
We've been involved in several projects aimed at helping people with disabilities succeed on the labour market. To these ends, we have created a special website in partnership with the non-profit Tichý svět, who provide comprehensive support to deaf people. Vacancies posted on our websites and apps that are suitable for people living with deafness are also posted there. Special services, like sign language interpreters, are available too.
Helping employees in debt navigate the situation
In 2019 we carried out detailed research focused on mapping the financial situation and how problems from Czech employees arising from being in debt are dealt with. Given the scope and social impact of foreclosures in the Czech Republic, we offer employers an option to work with our non-profit partner Člověk v tísní and use the services of their debt consultants in the workplace.
In cooperation with the Office of the Public Defender of Rights, we fought to reduce open discrimination in job adverts. Our information campaign aimed at companies ran from 2011 to 2013 and included a series of seminars for HR officers from across the country. Together we were able to open a debate on this sensitive subject and make significant progress, too. Before the campaign, 15% of adverts had contained openly discriminatory criteria and wording (concerning age, for example). Nowadays, these are a rarity in job advertisements. We are also still working on the removing possible discrimination in the later stages of recruitment – to learn more, check out our Data Breakfasts.
Jobs for people with criminal records
Not too long ago, former inmates used to face the next stage of their punishment upon release – no one would hire them due to their criminal record. That's why, between 2013 and 2015, we decided to put a lot of energy into presenting companies with arguments and tools to help the change their attitudes. We started by conducting a special LMC study, which was then followed by partnership the non-profit Rubikon Centrum. Together we held seminars for companies, as well as mock interviews for both HR officers and former prisoners. Soon, half of them were able to secure a job, hence improving their chances of integrating back into society. Today people with criminal records will find themselves welcome at many more companies than ever before.
In fall 2016, when there was talk of the upcoming closure of the OKD mine is Paskov, we offered the miners a chance to retrain and become programmers. We created and financed a multi-level training program with the help of Czechitas and the Technical University of Ostrava. 29 miners enrolled in the first level, seven of whom went on to take university entrance exams, and four managed to graduate! Three of the former miners started working as programmers within a year of leaving the mine and are still in the field today. The goal of the program was to show both people, and especially employers, that such a dramatic career change is possible, no matter how old you are.
